Continuous Flow Gas Hot Water Systems – Canberra

Continuous flow gas hot water systems are also known as “instantaneous” gas hot water systems. Depending on where you live, continuous flow gas hot water systems can be fuelled by either natural gas or LPG. Unlike “gas storage” systems, continuous flow gas hot water systems don’t store large amounts of heated water; instead, they heat the water when you need it.

Although continuous flow gas hot water systems are often described as being “instantaneous,” it usually takes a few seconds for the water to heat up. The pipe distance between the hot water system and tap can also have a bearing on heating times. Kennedy Plumbing & Gas – a leading Canberra plumber – can address any concerns you might have about a continuous flow gas hot water system.

Gas Storage Hot Water Systems – Canberra

As their name suggests, gas storage hot water systems store “ready to use” hot water. Gas storage hot water systems vary in physical size, energy efficiency and “first hour capacity.” As a general rule, one person living in a household uses 50-litres of hot water per day (a figure that increases when dishwashers and washing machines are used frequently).

Most modern gas storage hot water systems feature a primary gas burner (located under the tank) and a pilot flame, which is burning continuously. The pilot flame ignites the gas burner when required. Most gas storage hot water systems have an adjustable thermostat, and are fuelled by either natural gas or LPG.
